Online TV portal SeeSaw has ceased operations due to a lack of funding.
A notice on the SeeSaw website reads: "Thanks for your support but SeeSaw is no longer available."
Previous owners Arqiva released the following statement: "Having completed the sale of SeeSaw in July, Arqiva is very disappointed by the failure of the new investors to provide their committed funding. Without that funding the service had to close."
SeeSaw launched in February 2010 but a strategic review of its operations by owners Arqiva in June 2011 led to a decision to close the portal. A consortium of investors led by Criterion Capital Partners through the service a lifeline when they bought a 75% share in the business from Arqiva.
Shows from Channel Four and Five were removed from the site after licensing deals expired in September and soon after Platform Controller John Keeling, Commercial Director Matt Rennie and Product Director Richard Dines resigned before the closure was announced last week.
