iPlayer achieves record number of show requests

BBC iPlayer received a record-breaking 68.7m requests for TV programmes in February, a year on year increase of 81% from February 2009, according to the latest set of results on the catch-up TV service.

Daily iPlayer users hit 1.4. million during the month with the service receiving 3.5 million requests daily, including on average 2.5 million TV programme requests.

EastEnders Live proved to be the most popular TV show, with 1.1 million requests.

New 'time spent' data from the BBC found that 64 minutes was the average amount of time people used BBC iPlayer per week in February to watch TV programmes.
