US satellite broadcaster DirecTV has launched what it is calling "the most unlimited entertainment experience the industry has ever seen": its Titanium programming package.
The company, which is controlled by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, is providing its latest luxury offering for $7,500 a year so that subscribers can experience the "ultimate fantasy package for those who enjoy using the newest, best, and most expensive gadgets and services".
However, DirectTV Titanium will be limited to a few hundred subscribers, who will enjoy "red carpet treatment" of immediate installation and unlimited access to all channels (including adult programming), pay-per-view films, events and sport packages, as well as 24-hour concierge customer service and up to ten high-definition digital TV recorder receivers.
The new service was unveiled this month at the world premiere of Superman Returns, which is expected to be one of this summer's biggest blockbuster movies, and it will be officially available from June 28.
DirecTV Entertainment president David Hill said: "Titanium is the ultimate entertainment experience. There is simply nothing like it in the market today. The select few who get access ? will experience an unlimited world of entertainment possibilities."
