European satellite operator SES Astra has named its new digital satellite infrastructure arm entavio.
Announcing the new brand Astra CEO Wolfgang Keuntje told the international Consumer Electronics trade fair IFA in Berlin that entavio would offer "an infrastructure providing high-performance TV for everyone".
He added: "We want to provide all TV households in cities and in the countryside with access to the whole range of digital offers at a low and affordable price."
Entavio allows broadcasters to provide a comprehensive digital TV package, including interactive services and electronic programme guides "as well as an easy combination of free-TV with pay-TV, video-on-demand (VOD), pay-per-view (PPV) and a personal video recorder (PVR), [otherwise known as a digital TV recorder]".
Earlier this month Astra won contracts to supply digital infrastructure services to MTV's German channels as well as RTL's German channel portfolio.
