The BBC's commercial arm, BBC Worldwide, is revamping its international channel portfolio and planning to launch a global high-definition TV channel.

Under the reorganisation BBC Prime and BBC Food will be replaced by BBC Entertainment and BBC Lifestyle.

New channel BBC Knowledge will also carry advertising but a fourth channel, CBeebies, aimed at pre-school children, will be commercial-free around the world.

The revamp will not have an impact on BBC America which will continue in its current format.

In June BBC Worldwide said it planned to create a commercial version of the BBC's proposed internet download application, the iPlayer.
