Top Up TV has appointed Nick Humby to the post of chief financial officer. Humby, currently finance director at Manchester United, will join the UK's digital terrestrial pay-TV operator early next year.
Humby has had an extensive career in multichannel television. Before joining Manchester United in 2002 he was finance chief at Screensport and subsequently with Thames Television, where he was actively involved in the start up of UKTV Gold as well as BBC World and the launch of Five.
Humby joins Top Up as it prepares to launch a sports subscription channel in conjunction with Setanta, owner of rights to 46 live FA Premiership matches from next August.
Top Up TV chairman David Chance said: "We are delighted to have attracted someone of Nick's extensive background and experience. It is an exciting time for Top Up TV with the recent launch of our new Top Up TV Anytime service together with the impending launches of a premium movie service, PictureBox, and Setanta Sports. Nick's knowledge and understanding of the industry will be a tremendous asset for the company going forward."
The Setanta Sports channel will launch in conjunction with Top Up TV next year.
