Olympics fans in Germany equipped with a digital set-top box enabled to function as a Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) are enjoying coverage of the games on five digital channels, which include interactive data displayed on the screen.
Four of the video channels provide wide-ranging coverage of both major and minor events at the Athens games, while the fifth gives viewers interactive access to all the results and event schedules.
A promotional video of MHP's Olympics coverage can be accessed at the web site of Germany's ARD TV (see link below). The signal is available to German subscribers on both cable and satellite.
MHP boxes, using the open middleware system designed by the DVB Project, are made by several manufactures including Humax, Nokia, Panasonic and Philips, retailing at €200-€400.
