New York entertainment companies 212 Media and Schramm Sports & Entertainment have teamed up to offer US audiences Bollywood movies on demand through US cable channels run by Comcast and Time Warner Cable.
The venture will enable more than 6m digital cable subscribers served by the two MSOs to access the new service, BOD-VOD for "Bollywood-On-Demand/Video-on-Demand". It will comprise movies, TV series and music videos imported from India.
212 Media will take responsibility for the content and programming of the new service, while Schramm will do the marketing and provide strategic distribution support. Time Warner Cable, which launched a Bollywood service nationwide at the end of last month, said the service is part of a diversity initiative.
