Virgin Media's content division, Virgin Media Television (VMtv), has unveiled the logo and idents for its forthcoming digital entertainment channel, Virgin 1. Virgin Media said the design was focused on the concept of "reclaiming red"—the colour long associated with the Virgin brand.
The identity—which includes the well known Virgin logo—will be used in marketing and advertising as well as on-air when the channel launches in the autumn on Freeview, satellite and Virgin Media.
Jon King, head of marketing at VMtv, said: "We hope that our fresh approach to creating the channel identity will spill onto the screen and that we can engage viewers by giving them something that looks amazing but is also witty and a little bit out of the ordinary. We're incredibly happy with the logo design and excited about our big idea—reclaiming red—which gives us a lot of scope at launch and beyond."
Virgin 1 will replace VMtv's current free-to-air channel, Ftn.
