BT Vision reduces STB power consumption

BT has launched a new, energy efficient, set-top box (STB) for its BT Vision digital TV service.

The new Vision+ box has reduced power consumption by more than 12% when in use, according to BT, and meets the new EU energy regulations.

The STB has a 160 GB hard drive allowing viewers to store up to 80 hours of Freeview TV and connects to existing TV aerials to get Freeview TV channels and digital radio. At the same time, the Vision+ box connects to BT Broadband lines via the BT Home Hub to access on-demand TV, films and music.

Marc Watson, CEO BT Vision said, "We are always looking at ways in which we can improve BT Vision. The new BT Vision+ box is not only better looking, it also consumes less energy, something that we know is extremely important to our customers."
