Sony has announced that their range of 3DTVs and game and blu-ray content are now available in stores across the UK.
According to Sony, consumers will now be able to experience 3D gaming in the home for the first time with the launch of four 3D Playstation games: WipEout HD, SuperStardust HD, PAIN and MotorStorm Pacific Rift Demo. All titles are available to download for free when purchasing a Sony 3DTV. Playstation 3 owners can update their consoles to 3D with a firmware update.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs will be bundled with selected Sony 3D products and sold seperately from 14 June. Sony Blu-ray Home Cinema Systems released this year will be '3D capable' and a firmware update will be released shortly to enable 3D disc playback.
"We're delighted to be able to bring 3D products and content to the home and believe we are in a unique position to do so," said Andy Benson, Sony UK Commercial Director.
"But this is just the start of the journey. Each Sony company is fully behind 3D; focused on creating great content and, in the very near future, enabling consumers to create their own. For Sony, 3D is a continuation of our efforts to raise the experience of entertainment."
Sony and FIFA will be filming 25 World Cup matches in 3D and Sony is to screen promotional trailers for each of the games in Sony stores across Europe.
