ITV has appointed Paul Dale as Chief Technology Officer.
Dale joins ITV from Asian PayTV operator Astro, where he was CTO. He was formerly Sky's Media Technology Director, and Controller of Worldwide Partnerships and Controller of Future Media and Technology at the BBC.
Dale will lead ITV's newly formed Technology and Platforms directorate and will be responsible for transmission, broadcast services, and platforms.
He will report to Adam Crozier, Chief Executive of ITV, who said: "Paul's appointment is the latest addition to the transformation team we are putting together for ITV over the next three to five years.
ITV has lagged behind it competitors for too long in terms of technology. Paul's arrival signals a commitment to completely reshape our digital future."
Dale said: "This is the first time ITV has had a CTO on its management board—a major shift for the company which acknowledges that great content and technology go hand in hand to create a sustainable business that will take ITV into the future.
I am looking forward to working with some of Britain's most cherished TV brands that my parents, my children and I have grown up with. As CTO, I see technology as key to making ITV the entertainment choice for all generations using many platforms from the TV to the computer and mobile."
