BBC Future Media & Technology has appointed Daniel Danker as General Manager, Programmes & On-Demand (POD).
Daniel will manage and develop BBC iPlayer, and search across BBC Online as a whole. He will also develop radio and music products.
Daniel joins the BBC from Microsoft, where he helped to develop Mediaroom and, more recently, the platform that delivers music content to the web and the company's Zune and Xbox devices.
Director of BBC Future Media & Technology Erik Huggers said: "The BBC iPlayer has been a great success, and as video and audio-on-demand comes of age we want to stay ahead of our audiences' expectations by developing and delivering world-class products. In Daniel, we've hired a great talent with a proven track record in product development, and I'm very happy to welcome him to the team."

Daniel Danker will take up his new role on 20 September 2010.
