The West Midlands is to begin the switch to digital television on 7 September 2011 when the first stage of switchover at the Sutton Coldfield transmitter group will be completed.
Switchover at the Sutton Coldfield transmitter group will see the five analogue TV channels
switched off permanently and the Freeview digital service boosted to reach virtually all households in the region when the switch is completed on 21 September 2011.
Thousands of homes previously in digital blackspots will be able to receive Freeview channels for the first time, according to Digital UK.
The Fenton transmitter group serving Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme will also begin switchover on 7 September and complete on 21 September.
The Waltham transmitter group serving much of the East Midlands will complete the first stage of switchover on 17 August and all analogue servies will be turned off on 31 August.
