Unique users of Sky's online TV service Sky Go have increased by 75% on the previous year, according to Sky's latest financial results.
Sky Go's user base now stands at 2.8 million, with the surge in usage partly attributed to the European victory in the Ryder Cup which attracted 700,000 people to the service.
Sky also reported 4.5 million people now take Sky's HD service with 125,000 HD customers added during the quarter ended 30 September 2012.
Sky's customer base as a whole increased by 48,000 during the quarter, taking the total to 10.6 million households across the UK and Ireland. One in three Sky customers take the triple play package of TV, broadband and telephony.
Commenting on the results, Jeremy Darroch, Chief Executive, said: "Our investment in high quality content and innovative services has delivered excellent levels of loyalty and generated good growth in customers and products. At the same time, we continue to drive improvements in efficiency, reliability and customer service throughout our operations. This approach continues to generate strong financial results with good growth in revenues and earnings."
Sky recently re-launched their Sky+ service with the introduction of a new 7-day catch up TV section within the On Demand service (previously Anytime+). Sky also introduced a new Sky+HD 2TB box providing capacity to store up to 350 hours of HD content, during the quarter.
