DTG member, Freesat has seen excellent growth in the first quarter of 2014, approaching nearly two million homes in the UK. Freesat's new Freetime set top box alone has added 18,000 homes since January 2014 and now makes up more than 40% of Freesat's set top box sales.
Emma Scott, Managing Director of Freesat said “I’m delighted that Freesat’s strong
2013 momentum has continued into the first quarter of 2014. Free TV has never been so
vibrant or compelling. TV fans are switching on to our Freetime service and switching away
from pay TV and the expensive contracts that go with it.“
During the Q1, 2014 Freesat also announced a partnership with manufacturers Panasonic and Vestel, which sees Freetime becoming the preferred TV guide on the Viera TVs and a range of TVs and set top boxes sold by retailers Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Argos.
A joint venture between ITV and the BBC, Freesat offers more than 200 TV, radio and interactive channels including HD from ITV, The BBC and Channel 4.
