Netflix plans to launch in six more countries

The online video streaming service Netflix already has 48m subscribers and has seen their revenues soar 36% in the past 12 months to pass more than $1bn. This, however, isn't enough and the company plans to expand into six more countries; Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Netflix has operated in the UK for the past 2 years and across 40 countries worldwide.

A representative of the company said "The continued European expansion follows the launch of Netflix in the UK and Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the netherlands."

As the news came yesterday (21st May) Netflix's shares rose 5.1% and closed the day at $390.60 per share.
