Netflix lining up £100m drama about the Queen

The Video on Demand service, Netflix, is close to lining up a commission of their first original series from the UK with Left Bank pictures.

The independent production company pitched the drama titled 'The Crown' to both ITV and BBC who were interested but it is reported that Netflix have offered to stump up a staggering £5million per episode budget for the drama about the monarch's ascension to the throne.

This is the first time the VoD has commissioned a UK production company to produce an original show in hopes of recreating the success of Netflix's US produced shows 'Orange is the new black' and 'House of Cards.'
