Freeview and Digital UK have today announced plans to develop a new Freeview-branded connected TV service, combining the best of broadcast with a full portfolio of free to air on-demand TV players.
Ilse Howling has been appointed to the role of Managing Director, Connected TV at Digital UK from Managing Director of Freeview and the former Marketing Communications Director Guy North has been promoted to Managing Director of Freeview.
We are yet to hear details of launch times and a brand name for the new service.

Richard Lindsay-Davies, Chief Executive, Digital TV Group —the UK industry association for digital television —welcomed the news of a Freeview-branded connected TV service announced today by Digital UK and Freeview saying "we look forward to continuing to support the development of Freeview's connected proposition."
The Digital TV Group publishes and maintains the broadcast technical specification for digital terrestrial television in the UK (Freeview and Freeview HD) and will work with Digital UK as it plans the technical evolution of Freeview towards a Freeview-branded connected TV service."
