Satellite operator Eutelsat will be launching a 4k resolution channel for Southeast Asia and Australia with Thomson Video Networks.
The channel will feature documentaries, sports and cultural programmes from a number of sources to demonstrate the extra resolution that Ultra HD offers using Thomson Video Networks multi-screen video system and the Sapphire MPEG stream server.
This will then be broadcats via Eutelsat Satellites to a channel with a UHDTV picture at 50fps in 10-bit colour.
This news comes just two weeks after the BBC, with BT and Arqiva, announced tey would be trailling a 4k transmission via DTT.
