Netflix expands 4k content library

The OTT TV streaming service, Netflix has announced that all 62 episodes of the incredibly successful series Breaking Bad.

Thanks to a collaboration between the service and Sony Pictures, all the episodes have been remastered from the film negatives in a move that the companies say will 'modernise the digital supply chain' with the 4k episodes being made available on select LG, Sony and Samsung smart TVs.

To stream 4k content on the service, Netflix have agreed with Sony on an Interoperable Master Format (IMF) with hopes that is will lead to greater efficiency, accuracy and scale of the digital supply chain between studios and streaming services.

This follows Netflix's reveal of a brand update including new logos and layouts for their apps across many platforms.

This seems a bit like Netflix is growing up and certainly growing into what is happening in the digital content delivery industry, but what do you think?

Is the option for more 4k resolution needed on an OTT streaming service?
