According to the Multiscreen Index published by informitv Pay-TV services have grown as providers are embracing multiscreen services. In the first quarter of this year, an overall worldwide growth of 1.4 per cent has been seen in digital television subscribers across 100 leading pay television services.
These 100 services cover more than 30 countries and represent a total of around 330 million users in total and have collectively gained 4.17 million customers in the last three months and 17.43 million year on year (an increase of 5.2%.)
One of the reasons for this growth could be the accessibility of these services across different viewing platforms; 65% of pay-TV services included in this index deliver content to multiple screen including mobile, tablet and additional connected devices.
This is a point of interest at the DTG in both our Mobile Video Alliance, looking at how content is delivered to mobile devices, but also to our connected TV working groups looking at home networking.
