Philips Android TVs the first to offer Spotify Connect

Philips brand TVs which are powered by Android will be the first to support Spotify Connect, letting spotify Premium subscribers stream music from a mobile device to the television.

From September, Phillips smart TVs will integrate the music service further into home networks and will be first in a "long line" according to Spotify.

Spotify Connect draws directly on internet connectivity in the television which makes the service preferable to other streaming options like Bluetooth, as the stream won't be interrupted if your device goes out of range or you have to take a phone calls.

Spotify has also announced some new Connect partners for home speakers including Bose, Panasonic and Gramofon with more to be announced at IFA 2014.
