Former BSkyB content chief Sophie Turner Laing will take charge of merged Endemol and Shine global TV production business.
Turner Laing, one of the most powerful female executives in media, had overall responsibility for non-sport Sky content until earlier this month, overseeing the launch of Sky Atlantic, Sky Living and Sky Arts during her 11 year tenure. She joined Sky in 2003 from the BBC, where she held a number of senior roles, including acting director of television.
21st Century Fox and Apollo Global Management are in the final stages of establishing the structure of the new group, which will encompass indies including Broadchurch producer Kudos, Princess Productions, Dragonfly, Tiger Aspect and Darlow Smithson, as well as Endemol’s central non-scripted division, which has created hits such as Deal or No Deal.
