Sony collaborates with YouView on new TV range

Sony will be the first TV manufacturer to offer in-built YouView through its new 2015 Bravia range, giving users the TV platform without the need for a separate set-top box.

The inclusion of YouView on the new Bravia range will be combined with Android TV and Sony’s One-Flick Entertainment, offering an integrated Smart TV experience with access to a wide range of content – including demand services, movies, music, photos, games and apps.

Sony’s partnership with YouView is the first of its kind in the UK and Ireland. Customers will be given access to YouView’s extensive library of more than 12,000 on demand films and TV programmes.

Richard Halton, chief executive of YouView, said: “We are thrilled to announce a major collaboration with Sony on our first ever project to make YouView available on TVs.

“This exciting YouView and Sony partnership will create a deep integration of YouView’s functionality within the new Sony TV range, built on the Android platform.”

John Anderson, Sony UK and Ireland country head, said: “We’re delighted to be the first manufacturer in the UK to announce the addition of YouView to our range of TVs.

“We believe that our new Bravia range now has an unparalleled combination of Sony’s fantastic picture quality, fantastic design and the widest choice of content ever complete with Sony High Resolution Audio.”

YouView is known for its distinctive user interface design and seven-day catch up service that gives users access to BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, Demand Five and 4oD.
