DTG daily news round-up: HDR Ultra HD for Amazon and subtitle success for UK TV

AMAZON PRIME TO SHOW HDR IN 2015

Amazon is set to push the envelope of high definition TV this year with High Dynamic Range 4k Ultra HD titles on Amazon Prime Instant Video.

The streaming video service said it is working with Hollywood studios, leading technology innovators and global consumer electronics companies to launch in the US, UK and Germany in 2015.

UK TV CHANNELS HIT SUBTITLE GOALS

Regulator Ofcom says UK broadcasters met or exceeded their targets for providing subtitles, signing and audio description in 2014.

Targets were set for 72 channels, from the BBC's gold standard of 100% subtitling, 10% audio description and 5% sign language through to lower goals for niche broadcasters.
