iPlayer on Apple TV, New BBC distribution rules, November launch for BBC Store: DTG daily news October 30th 2015

iPlayer confirmed for Apple TV

A BBC iPlayer app will be developed for the new Apple TV box, although it won't be ready when the box goes on sale this week.

Unlike previous Apple TVs which had a locked-down feature set, the new device has its own operating system—dubbed tvOS—and is designed to run apps just like an iPhone or iPad.

BBC Trust introduces new distribution framework

The BBC Trust has pulled together the rules for distributing the BBC's linear and online services into a single framework for the first time.

The new framework also makes explicit throughout that the BBC must work with partners in order to make its services widely available, and the BBC Executive must now create guidelines for putting it into practice.

BBC Store to launch in November

November will see the arrival of BBC Worldwide's download-to-own store for BBC content, BBC Store, with the tagline: "Making the Unmissable Yours".

BBC Store will be officially unveiled next week, and will benefit from signposting in the BBC iPlayer when content is available to purchase.
