A "12 Days of Christmas" competition which kicks off in tomorrow's Daily Mirror will be one of the first major activities of the five-month digital switchover campaign being facilitated by the DCMS. On each of the 12 days of the competition, a half or quarter page of the newspaper will feature a different switchover relevant theme and a corresponding prize.
More competitions are planned in January and February, while a media pack that seeks to explain digital television and the rationale for digital switchover in simple terms has already been issued to key journalists. Other activities planned next year include the release of a "tabloid-friendly" news story, a press announcement regarding digital sales figures and viewing statistics over the Christmas period, and a presence at the Ideal Home Show.
