DTG Media Office Press Release
Cartesian becomes first consultancy to join the DTG
02 May 2017, London -- London, 02 May 2017: The DTG, the UK’s unique self-funded collaboration centre for innovation in digital TV technology, has announced that Cartesian has joined as its first member from the consultancy sector, as digital television becomes relevant to an ever-expanding pool of groups, businesses and consumers.
The DTG already comprises a breadth of organisations, including television broadcasters, technology manufacturers, government departments, hosting platforms, universities and accessibility charities. The addition of consultancies to this group will help to ensure that progress in the field will continue to benefit from the insight of a broad range of experts.
Cartesian, a specialist consultancy for the telecommunications, media and technology industry, will be leading the DTG’s newly formed Digital Rights Management (DRM) group, which has been established in response to the growing importance of content security and consumer privacy. With full implementation of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), due in May 2018, this takes on even greater significance.
Richard Lindsay-Davies, CEO of the DTG said: “We’re delighted to welcome Cartesian to the DTG, where they join global players such as Disney, Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Sky, Sony and Warner Bros as well as major British household names. As the scope of digital broadcasting continues to expand, so too does the range of experts required to ensure that progress is achieved in a way that is stimulating, value-driven and responsible. Cartesian’s membership increases the opportunity for collaborative debate and guidance for the benefit of viewers—and that’s really exciting.”
Jean-Marc Racine, Senior Vice President at Cartesian, commented, “The DTG offers a great environment for us to learn about and help shape industry innovations. The DTG’s work on Digital Rights Management is of particular interest and we look forward to working with other members on this key issue for the industry. The interpretation of these GDPR regulations is causing a good deal of controversy, and as such the leadership of organisations such as the DTG will be crucial in order for Members to ensure compliance.”
