What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Be nice to people on the way up, you might need them on the way down.

Which area of innovation excites you most and why?
I’m really excited about the opportunities that holographic and volumetric video can bring to fan experiences. Ever since I first saw Chewbacca and C3PO play Dajarik on the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars, I have been fascinated by holographs. The capabilities of 5G, edge computing and wearable technology mean we can start to bring this technology to life.

What makes this industry special?
The sheer breadth of opportunities that 5G brings to sport, media and entertainment. We are looking at everything from 5G cameras and production through to deeply immersive fan experiences.

What kept you sane during lockdown?
I really enjoyed spending more time with my wife Sam, three sons Felix, Arthur, Dexter, and Cooper the dog. It was also good catching up with my mates in the virtual pub we created, it wasn’t as good as being down the local but the beer was certainly cheaper!

What is your desert island luxury item?
A surfboard. I grew up surfing and it’s a great way to have fun and I can use it to sit on when I’m fishing.

What is your proudest achievement outside of work?
Getting a bronze medal for Snowboard Big Air at the British Championship in Switzerland. I also narrowly missed out on a medal for Boardercross (I was 4th).

What do you do to unwind?
I love fitness and spend time at the gym doing lots of HIIT and spin classes.

What are you passionate about?
Watching my boys playing sport. All three of them play football and rugby for local teams.

What is your all-time favourite film or tv show?
I’m a massive fan of Peaky Blinders, I can’t wait for the imminent start of season 6. Cillian Murphy is fantastic as Tommy Shelby.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I used to compete professionally in Snowboarding. I lived in Canadian and French ski resorts and my events were Big Air, Boardercross and freeriding. After suffering multiple broken bones and 8 concussions I decided to knock it on the head (pun-intended).
