Tell us a little bit about AI-Media

AI-Media, founded in Australia in 2003, is a pioneering technology company specialising in innovative captioning workflow solutions.

As a global leader, AI-Media provides high-quality AI-powered live and recorded captioning and translation technology and solutions to a diverse range of customers and markets worldwide.

For the first time in February 2024, AI-Media was able to unveil ground-breaking data showcasing the superiority of its AI captioning product, LEXI, over traditional human workflows. This milestone further solidifies AI-Media’s position as the foremost AI technology leader in live and recorded captioning workflow solutions.

With a commitment to utilising our deep industry experience and sophisticated AI technology to create solutions which streamline and simplify processes, AI-Media empowers leading broadcasters, enterprises and government agencies globally to ensure seamless accessibility and inclusivity of their content.

What’s the most exciting project coming up for AI-Media?

With the recent launch of our LEXI Recorded and LEXI DR (Disaster Recovery) solutions at NAB Show 2024, we are looking forward to delivering these solutions to existing and new customers.

Following on from this we will be working hard on the development of a number of innovations in the areas of generative AI for captioning topic models, automated audio description and an automated dubbing solution. Watch this space for updates!

What are you most looking forward to at the DTG Summit 2024
So much!

  • Being able to catch up face to face and build relationships while soaking up the fabulous content on offer. Connecting with customers, prospects, and partners is always a highlight!
  • Sharing the new solutions that AI-Media has on offer – being able to save our customers time AND money is always a thrill.
  • There is a lot happening in the broadcast and content delivery space at the moment with the advancements in AI and so on – it’s always good to keep an ear to the ground.

What does The Bigger Picture look like for AI-Media and why is it important?

AI is having a significant impact on accessibility and specifically captioning and translation solutions. How? The use of AI in the underlying platforms has resulted in the increased accuracy and lower latency of automated captioning solutions; which makes them a more viable option in more applications. Ultimately this means that automatic captions such as LEXI, make captioning content more affordable and content more accessible.

AI-Media can provide the underlying captioning encoder technology plus the captioning solution itself… and run these across our global iCap delivery network. Having this fully compatible, vertically integrated solution enables us to offer additional benefits and solutions such as our recently released LEXI DR (Disaster Recovery) Solution which offers a seamless caption failover in the event that cloud connectivity is compromised. AI-Media is working hard to use innovation such as this to simplify captioning workflows for broadcasters.

What will be the biggest gamechanger in the next five years and why?

The impact on regulations, of directives such as the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and updates to the Audiovisual Media Service Directive (AVMSD).

What is the one big issue the sector needs to address together?

To better leverage the value of content elements that are neither visual nor audible. Valuable metadata describing the audiovisual content is routinely discarded during its journey from, “glass to glass”; curating and making use of it can make content more accessible to all.

Tell us something people might not know about AI-Media.

The ‘AI’ in the AI-Media name is often considered to refer to Artificial Intelligence. While this is appropriate given the organisation’s commitment to using AI and innovation to develop accessibility technology, the ‘AI’ actually stands for “Access Innovation”. Whichever way you look at it, AI-Media is committed to using the latest technology to drive accessibility.
