The Digital TV Group (DTG) is pleased to announce that its CEO, Richard Lindsay-Davies, has been appointed as Chair of a newly established working group, part of the advisory forum led by Media Minister Stephanie Peacock MP. The forum has been convened to address the future of UK television in light of the ongoing shift towards online content consumption.

The new forum, formed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), brings together senior representatives from the TV industry, infrastructure operators, and audience groups. It will focus on ensuring that all viewers, particularly those without access to internet-connected TVs, can continue to access high-quality British content.

As Chair of the Infrastructure Working Group, Richard Lindsay-Davies will work alongside Gill Hind, COO at Enders Analysis, and Catherine Johnson from the DCMS College of Experts, who will lead groups on the TV Sector and Audience Needs respectively. These groups will gather evidence, consult with industry stakeholders, and drive forward policy recommendations to ensure a sustainable and inclusive television ecosystem.

Speaking of his appointment, Richard Lindsay-Davies said: “I am honoured to be appointed as co-chair of this important forum. At a time when the TV industry is evolving rapidly, it is critical that we maintain a focus on inclusivity and accessibility. We must ensure that no one is left behind as we transition towards online viewing. I look forward to working with partners across the sector to shape a resilient, future-proof television landscape that continues to serve all UK audiences.”

The first meeting of the forum is set to take place later this month, with quarterly sessions planned to address key issues and gather input from stakeholders across the industry.

About the Forum

The advisory forum, chaired by Media Minister Stephanie Peacock MP, aims to deliver a comprehensive strategy for the future of UK television, balancing the growing popularity of online streaming with the need to support traditional broadcast services. A new research report commissioned by DCMS highlights the potential for digital exclusion, particularly among older, rural, and lower-income households, without targeted interventions. The forum’s core goal is to develop solutions that ensure everyone can access world-class British programming, regardless of their internet connectivity.
