Tell us briefly, what does Witbe do?

Witbe makes automated testing and proactive monitoring technology for global video service providers. The company’s award-winning technology accurately measures the Quality of Experience that viewers receive. Witbe’s non-intrusive, plug-and-play technology replicates user behaviour to automatically test and monitor video services from anywhere in the world. With Witbe’s virtual NOC technology, providers can monitor the exact quality and availability their viewers see in the field. They can control, test, and monitor any video app running on a real device like they were in front of it. All of their collected data can then be analysed and shared in Witbe’s observability platform.

In layman’s terms, Witbe makes testing and monitoring technology for video service providers. We measure the quality that viewers actually receive on real devices and networks. We can test and monitor any video service running on any real device that’s connected to one of our Witbox devices. Once connected, teams can remotely access and control their real devices from anywhere in the world in real time. Our recently updated virtual NOC technology gives providers eyes and ears on their service from any web browser, empowering teams to collaboratively resolve errors faster than ever before.

Witbe has a dozen offices around the world and is proud to have customers — including Comcast, Cox, Verizon, Peacock, and Orange— in more than 50 countries.

What is your mission as a company?

Witbe’s mission originated from a challenge its founders, Marie-Véronique Lacaze and Jean-Michel Planche, encountered as early pioneers in the internet industry. Customers frequently reported service issues that their engineers couldn’t detect at the source. This query highlighted a crucial need to measure the quality of digital services from the user’s perspective, not just at the technical origin.

Witbe was born from this critical need to evaluate digital services on real devices and networks, to understand what users truly experience. The name Witbe reflects this focus: Who Is The BEst at delivering quality that meets customer expectations. Today, Witbe is a global leader in testing and monitoring video services, enabling businesses to deliver exceptional user experiences worldwide.

What sets you apart from the competition?

As we might have already mentioned, Witbe measures video Quality of Experience on real devices and networks. We do this non-intrusively on the same devices and networks that customers use every day. We are the only company in the market that can automatically test and monitor any video service (including DRM-protected content), running on any real device (including Smart TVs and mobile devices), over any network, anywhere in the world. As we like to say, “If it plays video, we can test it.”

This sets us apart from the competition because it gives providers a clear and accurate picture of the quality their customers receive, not just what gets sent out.

Since we work with video service providers all around the world, our technology is also informed by their constantly evolving wants and needs. We have a commitment to accessibility and ease of use, with everything from the simple installation of our Witbox devices to our AI-powered test scenario scripting technology usable by team members with no prior coding experience.

All our technology is built to scale with ease as needed. Along with our commitment to meeting the industry’s needs, more than 30% of Witbe’s employees is in our R&D team, dedicated to keeping us on the cutting edge of new technology.

What is the most exciting thing coming up for Witbe?

We’re very excited for 2025, since it’s the 25th anniversary of Witbe! We’re proud of the work we’ve done in the industry in that time, and we’re planning a year-long celebration with plenty of exciting updates, technology and partnerships to be revealed. We’re also excited to celebrate our early adopters and people who have believed in us since the beginning.

What is the biggest issue you think we can address together through cross-industry collaboration?

One of the biggest challenges facing video service providers today is being able to test how their service performs on the dozens, if not hundreds, of different devices, operating systems, and networks that are available to customers. Witbe provides reliable technology that allows providers to test and monitor their video services on real devices at the end-user level. We want to bring our expertise to the DTG, leading to more efficient workflows and a faster Time-To-Market for providers.

What might people not know about Witbe?

People might not know that Witbe has twelve offices all around the world, including in Paris, New York, London, Dubai, San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix, Montréal, Lisbon, and Singapore. They might not know that we are one of only twenty tech companies to have been publicly launched by a woman, with our amazing President and Co-Founder Marie-Véronique Lacaze. Speaking of, they might not know that Witbe could technically be considered a “family business” – Co-Founder Jean-Michel Planche is married to Lacaze, and Witbe’s CEO Mathieu Planche is their son. They are proud to be leading a global tech company with customers including Comcast, Verizon, and Vodafone.
