The DTG and Pace are partnering for the third consecutive year to launch the DTG/Pace “Best Contribution to Digital TV in the UK” Award.
The Award recognises the project, product or service that has made, or has the potential to make, the biggest contribution to the development of digital TV in the UK.
This year’s Award was officially launched at the DTG AGM and Summit on 6 March 2009. The Award is open to entries from vendors, operators and associations with products or services that contribute to the lead the UK has established in adopting new delivery models for digital TV content. Entries will be judged by the DTG Council and the award will be presented to the winner at the IBC show in Amsterdam in September 2009.
Commenting at the launch of this year’s award Helen Kettleborough, Director of Corporate Communications, Pace plc said: “In conjunction with the DTG we launched this award in 2007 as a means to recognise and celebrate innovation and vision in the UK television industry in Pace’s 25th year of operation. The high calibre of the winners in the first two years we have been involved – BSkyB’s SkyHD service in 2007 and Freesat in 2008 – are a testament to the continued strength-in-depth of digital TV in the UK.”
Richard Lindsay-Davies, Director General of the DTG, added: “As the industry association for digital television in the UK, one of our main goals is to ensure the UK remains at the forefront of the evolution of digital television products and services. The Pace/DTG Award enables us to do this, through acknowledging those innovations that have made a positive impact on the UK digital television sector. Over the past year and a half we have seen some exciting industry developments and it will be fascinating to see who the 2009 winner will be.”
Companies that have launched or are launching a product or service between the 1st August 2008 and 31st July 2009 are eligible for entry. Nomination forms can be downloaded at www.pace.com/dtgaward or requested from [email protected]
