Jon Culshaw, warmly regarded as Britain’s best impressionist, is joining our star-studded feature session Out of This World at New Horizons, the DTG Summit on 8 May!
A lifelong astronomy enthusiast, Jon appeared on The Sky at Night with Sir Patrick Moore on the show’s 50th anniversary. As a self-confessed fan of Doctor Who, Jon is responsible for voicing many of the audiobooks, with frighteningly accurate impressions of Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee. Jon is also a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and a judge for and host of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year awards with the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
Jon will be talking to session host Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE – the BBC’s ‘face of space’ – about TVs influence on his own personal interest in the cosmos.
Jon will be on stage with special guest James Burke, the award-winning TV presenter, writer, director and producer who fronted studio coverage of the historic Apollo 11 moon landing 50 years ago this summer.
Out of This World will tell the story of television’s coverage of that epic event – how live pictures were captured, transmitted, received and seen by audiences around the world on 20 July 1969.
