DTG’s Yvonne Thomas recognised as SMPTE Fellow

19/08/20

Congratulations to Yvonne Thomas, our Strategic Technologist, who has been elevated to Fellow status by SMPTE.

The individuals that SMPTE name as Fellows are recognised as having made a significant contribution to the motion picture, television and surrounding industries; they also have attained an outstanding rank among engineers or executives in media and entertainment.

Yvonne has been active in the industry over the years. Before being appointed as the Strategic Technologist for DTG last year, she held positions at both the European Broadcasting Union and Arvato Solutions. Her work led to TVNews Check recognising Yvonne as a Technology Woman to Watch during NAB 2017. She has also been active within SMPTE, currently acting as their Governor of EMEA and Latin America.

Commenting on her accolade, Yvonne said:

“I’m honoured to be a recognised as a SMPTE Fellow. Looking at this year’s Fellows selection, it is great to see the next SMPTE generation coming through who will continue to contribute a lot to the advancing of the media and entertainment fields. As a Fellow, I’d definitely encourage more diversity and hopefully this honour will help make way for more of this in the industry.”

Yvonne will be honoured during the SMPTE Annual Awards Gala, taking place across Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th November.
