This week, Manhattan announced the launch of their first Freeview Play set-top box, the T3 Freeview Play 4K Smart Box.
T3 will allow users to access the thousands of hours of live and on-demand content available from Freeview Play. They will be able to tap into content from the likes of BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and more – with no monthly cost in sight!
Manhattan’s T3 also caters to those who turn to YouTube for entertainment, with it and its child-friendly subsidiary, YouTube Kids, being included with the box.
Freeview Play’s ever trusty programme guide will allow viewers to catch up on any shows they’ve missed from the last seven days and pick out what they want to watch over the following seven days too.
Users can take advantage of the Watchlist feature which enables them to stockpile on-demand content to watch at their convenience. This is a unique feature for a Freeview Play device and it is great to see.
From the technical side of things, the T3 is very easy to set up. Wi-Fi and a few minutes of your time is all that is needed to get settled in with your favourite live and on-demand content. From the even more technical side of things, the quad-core CPU allows for a sleek viewing experience. Using the T3 is more like using a smartphone than a legacy set-top box. That can’t hurt at all!
The box features an ‘Instant On’ function which describes exactly what it does – there’ll be no waiting for T3 to wake up from standby! The energy-conscious will also appreciate that ‘Instant On’ operates while maintaining very low power consumption.
The T3 is accompanied by a smart-learning remote that can easily be programmed to control the viewer’s existing TV, removing the need to juggle multiple controls.
Manhattan has prepared the T3 for the future, making the box capable of delivering the latest 4K UHD content. In addition, Manhattan will continue to regularly update the T3, enabling users to access the most up-to-date features.
Anyone buying the T3 box will be happy to know that Manhattan will be offering a two-year manufacturer’s guarantee free of charge, and a UK-based customer support team during this term.
A recorder version of the box, the T3-R, is already in the works! It’s expected to be available to consumers later this year.
