DTG’s Ranjeet Kaur elected to HbbTV Association executive body

Digital TV Group (DTG) Programme Director Ranjeet Kaur has been elected to the Steering Group of the HbbTV Association, the organisation’s principal executive body responsible for guiding the strategic direction of one of the television industry’s most influential standards organisations.

Ranjeet was elected by members of the HbbTV Association during its General Assembly on 12 June 2026. Fifteen of the sixteen Steering Group seats were contested, with successful candidates elected to serve a two-year term.

The HbbTV Association brings together broadcasters, platform operators, manufacturers and technology companies from across the global television ecosystem to develop and promote open standards for hybrid broadcast and broadband television services. The Steering Group provides strategic leadership for the Association and helps shape its future direction and priorities.

The election recognises Ranjeet’s longstanding contribution to television technology, interoperability and standards development. As Programme Director at the DTG, she works at the intersection of technology, standards and industry collaboration, bringing together organisations from across the television value chain to address the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of television.

Ranjeet has played a leading role in a range of industry initiatives through the DTG, including overseeing the development and launch of the DTG DVB-I Test Suite, the development and delivery of HbbTV test materials for integration into the HbbTV Test Suite, and the creation of other connected platform test suites. These Test Suites help support interoperability, implementation and consistency across DVB-I and HbbTV services, strengthening confidence in connected TV deployments throughout the industry.
