Imagine. A national, trusted UK TV channel has been hacked by a group of cyber criminals, feeding the nation propaganda and disinformation, sparking economic chaos, social unrest, and causing the financial markets to crash.

The hunt to find the culprits and claim back control is on.

A seemingly post-apocalyptic situation, using cyber warfare to exploit the vulnerability of its target. But, far from fiction, the beginning of this story has already happened. In 2015, France’s TV5 was taken off air by a group calling themselves the ‘Cyber Caliphate’, who used highly targeted malicious software to destroy the TV’s network systems.

The DTG joined forces with NCSC (National Cyber Security Centre), Dstl (Defence, Science and Technology Labs) and BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) to explore a worst-case scenario for a UK broadcasting doomsday.

This virtual event dives into the importance of a joined-up approach in preparing for such an attack, examining how the broadcast, media and entertainment industry can protect itself in a world where any vulnerability could lead to potentially catastrophic consequences.

Agenda:

  • Welcome to the event
  • Keynote Speakers from NCSC and Dstl
  • Cyber Doomsday Scenario Walkthrough Attack vs Defence
    • Attack walkthrough (cyber kill chain)
    • Defence walkthrough (detection and response)
  • DTG Cyber Security Work
  • Q&A and wrap up
